Title: Keone & Mariel Madrid :: "Interview" :: Urban Dance Camp
Edited/Filmed: AM Video Company
Choreographers: Keone and Mari Madrid
Theme: Interview
Choreographers: Keone and Mari Madrid
Theme: Interview
Purpose: This is an interview of married couple, world renowned dance choreographers and also personal favourite dancers of mine, Keone and Mari. They talk about their experience as dancers, choreogrphers and teachers in the dance industry as Urban Dance Camp which is the world's leading dance intensive education.
Structure: Shots of Keone and Mari as they speak, shots of them teaching at Urban Dance Camp as well as previous performances they have participated in.
I chose to analyse this video because Keone and Mari are two of my most inspiring dancers. It's interesting to hear what their lives are like as dancers and even more interesting that they are married, so it must be that much harder to be a full-time dancer and to work with your partner as your full-time colleague. I also wanted to see how the 'AM Video Company' edited an interview based on a dancer's perspective. This video inspired me to base my interview on the company I dance for which is IMDC and to interview the founder to inform people on how IMDC first formed and what they will be seeing from IMDC in the near future. But as I previously posted before, he was too busy to interview so I just worked with what I had and created something more humorous instead.
Camera Techniques:
Mostly still shots because if it were a moving shot, the camera movement would distract from the dancing.
I really love the cut shots of them talking to shots of them teaching. The cut away shots usually relate to what they are talking about, such as when Keone was talking about how they create their choreography which is broken down freestyle, at the same time he is talking about this, the shot cuts away to a scene of one of their stage rehearsals.

I really love the last two frames above. The filmer changes depth of field from Keone talking to Mari when she talks. These shots show how they both work together to teach their classes.
